Though it hardly even feels like winter, this poem reminds me of the universality of the search. It relieves me to know that I am joined by this poet (and all others, I suspect) in the tiring work of trying to figure out who I am and what my place is in this world.
Winter is the Best Time
by David Budbill
Winter is the best time
to find out who you are.
Quiet, contemplation time,
away from the rushing world,
cold time, dark time, holed-up
pulled-in time and space
to see that inner landscape,
that place hidden and within.

I might have to post a rebuttal next week when I'm basking in the warmth of sunny Florida... ;-)
ReplyDeleteLovely poem. Thank you.
